Hungary is one of my areas of expertise, as I've spent half my life there. Over the years I have developed a fair knowledge of the local culture and foods. With a little practice you can also acquire an appreciation for things Hungarian. This page is a good place to get some of that Magyar magic. The local language is unlike anything else around and is known to be one of the most difficult ones to master. This should not hold anyone back however, as learning any language will have its rewards. If you want to learn some key phrases, take a few lessons in Hungarian. You may need to translate some parts of this page anyway... |

In case you are on a diet or are vegetarian, brace yourself. The locals are not afraid to use plenty of meat, sauces, spices and grease. The pictures above are from the food court of the Central Market (Nagy Csarnok), a recently closed pancake house (Korona) and the Gourmand Coffee house.
